What is Qflix™?
Qflix is a great new technology that makes it possible to burn Hollywood movies and other premium content on demand, to DVD turning any PC or connected device into a
personal DVD store and giving any DVD retail or online store the potential for unlimited inventory. Now, with Qflix drives and media, movies from the CinemaNow store can be
burned to DVD so you can play them everywhere - in the living room, in the kid's room, and in the mini-van.

How do I burn a Qflix DVD at home?

How long does it take to download a movie and burn it to a Qflix DVD at home?
There are a few factors that affect the time it takes to download and burn a movie to a Qflix DVD - the length of the movie, the speed of your internet connection, the speed of your PC, and the burn speed of the Qflix burner.
With a modern PC with a typical fast internet connection, you can expect the whole process to take around 1 ½ to 2 ½ hours for a 90 minute movie. One great advantage of CinemaNow is that it supports progressive transcoding - the burn process is automatically started soon after the transcode begins

Do Qflix DVDs contain the same menus and extra features as the replicated DVD?
The content service provider determines the program and interactive menu content included on a Qflix DVD. The disc can contain the same menus and extra features as a replicated DVD. Qflix DVDs can also range from a simple "First Play" movie containing the main title to a complex custom DVD with user-selected content and menus.

When will more movies be available?
CinemaNow has indicated that they are working with all the major Hollywood studios and will keep adding more and more Qflix titles to their online store.

CSS copy protection has been cracked, so what's the point of using it to protect Qflix DVDs?
Software is available to circumvent CSS, although such software is illegal in most countries. Regardless of this, CSS provides an important first level of
protection from casual disc copying. More importantly, DVD players are required by the CSS license to protect CSS-encrypted content by encrypting digital outputs,
among other things. CSS is also recognized as a protection method under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and World Intellectual Property Organization
(WIPO) treaties.
Despite the circumvention of CSS, it is still used on essentially all retail and rental DVDs, which generate billions of dollars each year in the US alone.
Encrypting content with CSS makes a clear legal statement that the content is protected from copying.

What is the difference between RMR and MOD?
- Drives and media - MOD uses Qflix Pro drives and media within a secure environment; RMR uses Qflix consumer drives and media within a non-secure environment.
- Internet connectivity - Each RMR installation requires an internet connection in order to authenticate the burn process; MOD does not.
- DVD CCA license - Since MOD uses Qflix Pro drives and media, a DVD Disc Replicator license agreement with the DVD CCA must be executed in order to request and
securely handle CSS keys; RMR requires no such license, as the keys are provided partly on the Qflix discs and partly by Qflix software connected to the online
authorization server.

How does MOD work?
Packaged DVDs today are produced in centralized, high-volume replication facilities, where DVD discs are stamped out by the tens of thousands. MOD is an
alternative option to produce the same DVD for retail or e-tail, except discs can be duplicated one at a time. MOD discs can have the same menus, same bonus features,
same product and package quality, and most importantly the same CSS copy protection as high-volume replication.
The MOD process uses professional Qflix media and drives to burn a retail-quality disc on demand, typically in a specialized production and fulfillment
environment. And with Qflix, the same Hollywood-approved CSS protection used to protect replicated discs can be applied to discs created on demand, one at a time.

How does RMR work?

A consumer browses a range of video titles on an in-store display or at home via a web page. Once a title is selected, the digital file is sent from in-store
storage to a local Qflix drive in a kiosk or to a Qflix DVD robotic duplicator in a back room or behind a counter in the store for burning, label printing, and
packaging. A burn license is acquired from the Qflix authorization server prior to burning the video to Qflix DVD media.

How does CDB work?
Consumers first select an internet content service provider supporting Qflix, such as CinemaNow. After browsing the online store, users purchase a Qflix video
program, download it to the PC or Internet-connected device (such as a DVD recorder or cable set-top box), insert Qflix media, and proceed to burn the DVD on
the connected Qflix drive.
In order to support this user experience, the content service provider has prepared the video content to optimize the quality of the playback experience. The
format of the downloaded file can vary, but typically it is a DRM-protected file, such as a Windows Media DRM-protected WMV file. The file is delivered with a burn
license, which is required to burn the DVD. The Qflix drive reads a partial CSS key from the Qflix media, which is used along with the burn license to authorize the
burn and retrieve additional CSS key data from the Qflix authentication server.
